Green Burial

Wilkies Wood is the first green burial site in Morayshire and is located in a quiet, sheltered position in the middle of a 30 acre mixed pine plantation on the Findhorn Peninsula.

The site was subject to a severe storm and is now being managed by the Findhorn Hinterland Trust, a community organisation of local people concerned with practical and wildlife conservation. After burial the graves will become an integral part of the woodland with no headstones or mementos.

Choosing a simple, natural, green burial offers a return to Nature’s cycle and will provide a living memorial for future generations in the form of a beautiful woodland. For a brief overview of the benefits of a green burial site and more infor, view the short video below produced for the Global Ecovillage Network for their spring 2021 online summit.
